Visiting wild Orangutan at Tanjung Puting National Park requires boarding a klotok, a wooden house boat.  The top deck of the boat becomes your home for three nights, surrounded by the jungle sounds.  At dawn the call to prayer and the howler monkey share the same stage along with awakening birds and insects.  During the day, rainstorms and a one stroke motor echo down the river.  Rangers walk the forest to the feeding stations, calling to the "forest people", which is the loose translation of Organutan.  As the males approach from a quarter mile, its like a scene from Jurassic Park when the T-rex is approaching but not yet visible.  The canopy shakes, loud cracking branches, trees falling, until he finally appears - the king of the jungle.
